Supporting women experiencing homelessness, 2023-24

A report highlighting our gender-informed services and spaces for women

At Glass Door, holding space for women and delivering services with a gender-informed approach is crucial to supporting women on their route out of homelessness.

The increase in demand for women’s spaces has been a consistent trend year on year. Last year, our 2023-24 Winter Night Shelter season saw the very first Women’s Shelter.

From our Women’s Shelter stemmed a weekly drop-in Casework service for our guests who preferred a 1to1 service in a single gender space.

This report spotlights the importance of our women’s spaces and services. It reflects on the experiences of, and challenges faced by, our women guests and Caseworkers, and celebrates the positive outcomes of the hard work they did together.
